Robida 9 - on soils

The essay "Citizens exploring urban soils", published in Robida 9, tells the story of Open Soil Atlas, a citizen-led soil counter-mapping project that began in Berlin in 2021. It explains why a community of activists chose to launch this initiative as a means of making urban soil data and knowledge accessible. It also outlines the project’s structure, the governance framework underpinning the team’s work, and the strategy for engaging citizens in the project.

This essay was written with the support of Liz Eve, Anna Verones and Fenja Freiin Grote – part of the Open Soil Atlas team.
